Honestly you could make this in various sizes with numerous bulbs if you like. They sky is the limit as far as possibilities go. This one measures about 6" wide and 8" tall. Good times.
This desktop Christmas tree was something we saw on the internet and thought we would give it a try. It is made from 1/8" thick Birch Plywood and is easily cut out with our zing laser. Honestly we don't often use out laser to cut out shapes so this was a lot of fun. I drew up the basic design in AutoCAD and saved the lines as a DXF file. Once I had it created we imported it to our Laser program and let the laser cut out the parts.

This past week we got the opportunity to laser on some Urns. It is always fun doing new and unique projects for people and this one was no exception. In this case we were only putting on some initials for a customer but what made it tough was the diameter. With our Zing laser the maximum diameter is about 4.5" and we used every bit of that diameter with this project. Another challenge was the Urns were already finished. After setting up our work and getting them into the rotary attachment we ran a couple trial runs to make sure of our measurements and clearance. As you can see in the photo they turned out pretty good. The customer was very happy with the results.
Here was a fun project we got to do this week at MBJD Laser. A customer brought us this knife to be engraved and as you can tell from the pictures it turned out pretty good. Our customer was very happy. We do a handful of knives every year and the one thing we have learned is that every knife is different in size, shape, and material. It is actually much harder to do then one might think.
Once in a while I get to make something for myself here at MBJD Laser. This is a 300 piece Poker Set with custom black paint filled logo. The poker set itself is great quality. The chips are hefty like everybody wants in a poker chip and they come with 2 decks of cards and 5 dice. These poker sets would make a great fathers day gift, or something really nice for that college student in your family.
The entire set weighs 9 1/2 lbs so it is substantial. No cheapo set here. Engaving settings on our 40 Watt Zing was Speed 70 and Power 100. In this instance we masked the entire lid, rastered the image, spray painted with black paint, then removed the masking. Viola! There is really nothing more satisfying then being able to provide something for a customer that looks great, is a quality product, and is functional. We lasered the logo onto these MultiTools and wow what a great gift. The red and blue annodized aluminum always engraves nicely.
I had a repeat customer who had an idea for some baseball coaches gifts. MBJD Laser did the laser engraving of the logo and we paint filled the engraving with black paint. Once the customer got the project home they addes some green paint of there own and WOW...what a great look!
These home plates were made of 1/2" Baltic Birch Plywood. Awesome gift! Today we laser engraved some simple ceramic coffee mugs from JDS Industries. These come in about 3 different shapes and 8 different colors. Once laser engraved they have a great look to them. The two mugs shown in the picture are somewhat square in shape while the inside is round creating a unique look. This was a fun project that had some personal meaning to us here at MBJD Laser. We don't get time to do fun projects for ourselves and friends very often but this is one of those times that we did. We ordered this Leather Satchel from a company online called Denali Leather. Once we received it we laser engraved the name on the flap for an exchange student that we had living in our home about 6 years ago. As you can see in the photo the contrast that the laser created was a great look.
For those people who are just starting in the laser business, don't be afraid to try new substrates. Sometimes the risk is great but the reward is greater! A big portion of what we do is laser engrave items for big businesses. Below are a few examples of some items we have done. The key is to get quality items that look good and are functional. Offering quality products at a fair price is a big key to our success. Each year here at MBJD Laser we research and test items that we think will sell. Obviously some items are more popular than others but its important to have a variety of products to choose from.
This past month our shop got the opportunity to create some very cool end of season baseball plaques for Trinity Academy here in Wichita. What makes these plaques unique are 2 fold. First off we use a product called laser foil. Laser foil is a way of getting color on an item using a laser. As you can see in the pictures the name and number are Emerald Green in color. At first glance this might appear to be color filled with paint. However we did this using laser foil. Laser foil is a lot like vinyl however it is specially made to work using your laser. Its a fun way to get color and have the item really pop and look good. Second we incorporated our now very poplular QR code technology that when scanned with a smart phone it plays a message to the players from their coach.
I truly classy gift that is unique and a keepsake for sure. |
